If you have thrown in the towel and are ready to ask for some help with this food thing, I would love to invite you to join my “Intentional Adventures in Emotional Eating” Course. The intent of this course is to teach you how to begin to listen to your body to overcome bingeing, overeating, and obsessive thinking about food. Our approach guides you to build one skill at a time, building upon one another.
We embrace a belief that our body is magnificent and adaptive. When we restrict our calories and favorite foods, our body adapts to help us survive. Our taste buds change to encourage our eating and we crave the taste of food previously unappealing. When we feel deprived of pleasure, we overeat or binge, because our body NEEDS pleasure to thrive. When we feel shame for overeating, and hiding, we numb out to protect ourselves from subsequent harsh judgement. We deny ourselves of feeling life.
We believe there is nothing wrong with us. In fact, everything is right with us. It is our approach in healing our relationship with food that needs work.
This course is not intended to help women lose weight, though many participants who learn the skills taught and address the issues behind why they eat, do indeed lose weight and their body levels off at their natural weight.
You will meet your instructor through a 1 on 1 video conference or via phone for 6, 1 hour and 15 minute sessions. Each session is specifically designed to meet your needs at your pace, within the context of your lifestyle.
Each week we will check in about your experience from the previous week, learn new tools and strategies, and discuss a new topic. At the conclusion of each session, you will be given a mini assignment which will take about 15-30 minutes to complete every day. Examples of assignments may be reading, journaling, or writing down what your hunger and fullness feel like, what is driving your eating-emotions, seeing food, etc. In between sessions, please text me with questions and for support. Again, I’m here for you!
We want this experience to be one that will help you gain freedom from food obsession, develop skills to listen to your body’s natural signals, and to identify the root cause behind your eating….so you can truly address it.
This course is not for everyone. You need to ask yourself:
- Are you willing and do you have the time to spend 15-30 minutes every day to complete assignments that will help you develop the ability to listen to your body and discover what is behind your eating?
- Do you have the emotional bandwidth right now to dig deep and face why you are using food?
If you cannot answer yes to both of these questions, this course is not the right fit. We want what is best for you and we want you to experience growth.
This course will start you on the path to learn to listen to your body to guide your eating. We will provide you support as you delve into discovering why you use food. You will explore if you eat because you are hungry, or on impulse, when you see it, or if your emotions are swirling around from boredom, loneliness, or a plethora of other reasons. You may gain more accurate information so that you can meet your true needs in ways that will get to the root of what is behind your eating. We will help you identify your unique soul soothing techniques for self-care without food. I will be right there beside you to support you along the way….in baby steps. At the conclusions of this course, you may even leave with the hope that you have found a path that will work for you and feel confident in the skills you have begun to develop.
I've got cred..... I am a licensed Health Educator, a Certified Integrative Health Coach, from Duke Integrative Medicine, Full-time Physical Education teacher and have had my Health Coaching business for 3 years now. I am refining my business niche to include women who have food issues because I have walked this journey myself….and it doesn’t need to be so hard. And, I am pissed, that many of the approaches of the diet industry so prevalent in our culture, work against our natural biology and often prove to exacerbate women’s food challenges.
As I said, this course isn’t for everyone. If you are ready to try a new approach, roll up your sleeves and take action, let’s do this thing!
If you have further questions, or you’d like to talk on the phone, please e-mail. I’d love to talk with you.
